The online courses are available beyond our Utah repair service area. The business course uses a United States context; students should verify the requirements for their own location.

Questions about the classes
Can I learn small engine repair online?+
You can study engine principles, maintenance, safety, and diagnostic reasoning through online lessons. Foundations provides that structured learning. Practical competence also requires appropriate tools, safe working conditions, and hands on practice using manufacturer instructions.
Which course should I take first?+
Choose Foundations if you want a starting point for understanding and maintaining small engines. Choose the business course if you already have repair skills and need help with service scope, pricing, customer processes, and business planning. The business course does not teach mechanical repairs.
Are the classes self paced, and how long do they take?+
Both courses are self paced. Foundations has 10 modules and the business course has 8. Completion time depends on your starting knowledge and the time you spend practicing or building your plan. There is no promised number of hours to become a technician or launch a business.
Do I receive a small engine certification?+
You receive a SPRUCES Academy certificate of completion when you meet your course requirements. This is independent SPRUCES training. The certificate is not EETC certification, a professional license, or proof of hands on competency.
Does the $99 business course include a business plan?+
Yes. It includes an editable planning toolkit, startup budget, pricing and job calculators, customer templates, and a launch planner. You create your own plan and assess it with a self review rubric. Individual consulting and instructor review are not included.
Can I use my phone?+
You can read the course lessons in a browser on your phone. Use a computer browser for the interactive business toolkit, which includes export, import, and print options for saving your work.
How do I get back to my course?+
Use the SPRUCES student login with your student account. Each purchased course appears in that account. Buying one course does not include the other.
